R&D Upholstery Specialist

Description/Job Summary

Develop new styling lift chairs, train upholsters in correct methods, and develop wood, foam, fabric, or cardboard templates  
 

Responsibilities/Duties

•Create prototype models of new furniture designs

•Create prototype pattern shapes for each material and ensure the cut and sewn components meet the design requirements

•Work with the Bill of Materials (BOM) team on product specifications, and new manufacturing methods to develop wood and fabric patterns and templates

•Assist with training upholstery team members, as needed

•Participate in product design reviews in conjunction with manufacturing to ensure standardization of parts and cost effectiveness with new designs

•Ensure all safety and security rules are strictly observed and any accidents, incidents or injuries are promptly reported to management

•Attend the Annual C-TPAT Security Training

•Focus on continuous improvement, and consistently demonstrate good business judgment

•Work effectively with all Pride departments to exceed internal and external expectations

•Assist with organization and cleaning of work area, keeping aisles and walkways clear at all times

•Pride retains the discretion to modify duties and/or assign other duties as necessary

Must have:

•A willingness to learn and/or adapt to new work methods
•Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word and Excel
•Advanced upholstery skills
•Good verbal and written communication skills
 

Required Experience

•At least 5 years of furniture upholstery experience developing and implementing new pattern styles and templates in a manufacturing environment

Preferred Experience

•Previous Quality Assurance experience in an upholstery manufacturing environment preferred

•Basic working knowledge of 3D CAD modeling software preferred

•Current or previous successful employment experience with Pride Mobility Products Corporation preferred

Required Education

•High School Diploma or GED
