Product Development Specialist

Description/Job Summary

Assist with developing new styling lift chairs, train upholsters in correct methods, and develop wood/foam/fabric/cardboard templates

Responsibilities/Duties

•Direct and interact with all members of the team to create prototype models of new furniture designs

•Accurately interpret the furniture designer’s shape and contour details from 2-dimensional drawings and design cover patterns to meet the design criteria

•Create prototype pattern shapes for each material and ensure the cut and sewn components meet the design requirements

•Document cutting/sewing specifications for product costing

•Work with the Research and Development (R&D) department on BOM’s, specifications, and new manufacturing methods

•Work with the Fabric CAD team to ensure the fabric templates are installed in the CNC Pattern Machine for all new styling

•Train the Upholstery Line Float Leads on approved methods to manufacture new styling lift chairs

•Coordinate wood frame patterns to frame vendors for wood frame construction

•Set up and maintain project files per design and company standards

•Check all drawings and specifications for 100% accuracy

•Participate in product design reviews in conjunction with manufacturing to ensure standardization of parts and cost effectiveness with new designs

•Ensure all safety and security rules are strictly observed and any accidents, incidents or injuries are promptly reported to management

•Attend the Annual C-TPAT Security Training

•Focus on continuous improvement, and consistently demonstrate good business judgment

•Work effectively with all Pride departments to exceed internal and external expectations

•Comply with appropriate safety guidelines and report any safety related incident and/or potential safety hazard to management

•Assist with organization and cleaning of work area, keeping aisles and walkways clear at all times

•Pride retains the discretion to modify duties and/or assign other duties as necessary

Required Experience

•At least 5 years of furniture upholstery experience developing new styles and templates in a manufacturing environment

Preferred Experience

•At least 1 year of experience in furniture upholstery manufacturing quality preferred

•Current or previous successful employment experience with Pride Mobility Products Corporation preferred

Preferred Education

•High School Diploma or GED
