Description/Job Summary

To manage the Environmental Health and Safety programs for all locations of the organization ensuring the company and employees have a safe working environment and are adhering to all environmental, health and safety policies and regulations

Responsibilities/Duties

•Ensure that Pride facilities are in full compliance with all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
•Develop, maintain and enforce all Environmental Health and Safety policies, procedures and best practices for the organization
•Communicate and document organizational safety objectives, regularly conduct safety audits of all departments, and appropriately address individual or group safety issues
•Oversee Security Officer personnel as resources to provide a safe and secure workplace for employees, vendors and visitors while protecting company assets
•Coordinate all contact with local, state and federal external agencies in relation to Environmental Health and Safety, including but not limited to OSHA, EPA, PADEP, DOT, International Air Transport Association (IATA), and International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code
•Manage emergency responses, including but limited to accidents, injuries, acute employee medical concerns, or incidents that may require area or facility evacuations
•Partner with Human Resources to effectively manage the reporting and handling of work-related injuries to ensure injured workers are given proper medical treatment and medical costs are controlled
•Partner with Human Resources to manage the Drug & Alcohol Testing policy for active employees including but not limited to incidents of suspicion, post-accident, post-injury, and random testing
•Manage the Pride Safety Committee by holding regular meetings, and conducting audits and training to maintain maximum efficiency and state certifications
•Provide training, certifications, and maintain records for all powered industrial truck operators and truck drivers in PA facilities and ensure proper training and certification is conducted and maintained for remote facilities
•Manage the availability and usage of required Personal Protective Equipment and any associated employee reimbursement
•Manage residual waste and recycling programs for PA facilities and complete annual reporting for PADEP
•Manage Tier II annual chemical reporting to local, county, and state fire departments
•Manage quarterly fire inspection systems and annual fire pump tests for all facilities
•Staff management including documenting and communicating objectives, positively impacting employee morale, motivating team members, conducting performance appraisals, and appropriately addressing individual or group performance issues
•Ensure all safety and security rules are strictly observed and any accidents, incidents or injuries are promptly reported to management
•Attend the Annual C-TPAT Security Training
•Assign, train, and develop staff based on experience and departmental goals
•Develop goals and objectives, and measure outcomes to ensure goals are met
•Focus on continuous improvement, and consistently demonstrate good business judgment
•Develop a "Strong 2nd" for your areas of responsibility
•Work effectively with all Pride departments to exceed internal and external expectations
•Pride retains the discretion to modify duties and/or assign other duties as necessary

Required Skills

•Must be a team player, professional, detail-oriented, and honest

Must have the ability to:
•Obtain a Medical Certification (EMT or First Responder) within first year of employment if not already maintained*
•Multi-task, problem-solve, and prioritize in a fast-paced working environment
•Guide, direct, and motivate staff
•Lift/push/pull up to 40 lbs
•Travel domestically to Pride facilities each quarter and as needs arise
•Attend all training required to maintain certification on transportation regulations pertaining to DOT, IATA, and IMDG

Must have:
•Relentless drive to achieve advancement and continuous improvement
•Advanced working knowledge and comprehension of regulations pertaining to OSHA, EPA, DOT, and state and local government
•Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word and Excel
•Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills

Required Experience

•At least 3 years of Safety related experience dealing with OSHA, DOT, EPA, and state and local government agencies
•At least 3 years of experience dealing with emergency responses, including but not limited to accidents, injuries, acute employee medical concerns, or incidents that may require area or facility evacuations in an OSHA regulated General Industry standards environment

Preferred Experience

•At least 5 years of experience managing Environmental Health and Safety programs in a manufacturing environment preferred
•At least 5 years of Safety related experience dealing with OSHA, DOT, EPA, and state and local government agencies
•At least 5 years of experience dealing with emergency responses, including but not limited to accidents, injuries, acute employee medical concerns, or incidents that may require area or facility evacuations in an OSHA regulated General Industry standards environment
•At least 1 year of Safety related experience in a pharmaceutical or medical device Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environment preferred

Required Education

•High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Education

•Associate Degree in Occupational/Industrial Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering or a related field preferred
•Medical Certification (EMT or First Responder) preferred *
*Would be required to obtain either first year of employment, at company expense, if not already maintained
