Description/Job Summary

To manage all aspects of Pride’s Logistics and Transportation operations, related to shipments within, from and to the United States and all International Subsidiaries

Responsibilities/Duties

•Oversee the Logistics and Transportation team regarding inbound and outbound shipments including but not limited to the modes of railcar, truck, and barge
•Maintain strong business relationships with various transportation providers and vendors ensuring quality service while seeking opportunities for cost reductions
•Ensure all international transportation is performed in compliance with all international regulations including but not limited to US Customs and appropriate European Union (EU) or Australian import requirements
•Ensure all import and export documentation is produced in accordance with US Customs regulations and C-TPAT compliance
•Interact with customs brokerage, booking agents, and Pride Purchasing, Sourcing, and Inventory Control to ensure a seamless supply chain
•Consistently analyze, research and achieve superior international and domestic transportation services and cost effective rates for all Pride locations
•Perform annual rate negotiations for all domestic, import and export modes of transportation
•Ensure customer calls are handled accordingly by the Logistics team and assist with escalated issues as needed
•Ensure cost effective solutions are consistently being evaluated for truckload carriers and rate negotiations
•Ensure team is efficiently tracking, tracing, creating, and monitoring schedules for all shipments, while ensuring all priorities are identified including expedited shipping
•Review records, international and domestic quotes, transportation information, and international export shipment documentation for accuracy
•Monitor the quality, cost and efficiency of the movement and storage of products
•As a liaison, collaborate with Pride International Purchasing, Supply Chain and transportation partners for all exports
•Oversee and review recommendations for cost effective transportation programs and annual ocean contracts and domestic freight negotiations
•Oversee and review all international and domestic volume by country, state, carrier, shipments, and cost per pound/kilo
•Backup contact for the Logistics Process Manager for internal and external contacts
•Oversee the completion of various reports including filing damage and freight claims with carriers
•Develop a cross functional backup system for your Area of Responsibility (AOR)
•Oversee and provide weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to internal customers regarding all Pride transportation services
•Provide efficient communication of information to Accounting, Sales, Marketing, and other operational functions
•Oversee purchasing functions as related to transportation and logistics
•Pursue ongoing professional development to maintain current knowledge on the latest logistics best practices, laws and regulations
•Act as a key advisor on shipping, logistics and transportation issues
•Maintain working knowledge of current and future Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) impacts as they relate directly to the business
•Participate in strategic planning efforts and prepare action plans for new and/or existing processes that maximize efficiencies while maintaining exceptional quality standards
•Staff management including documenting and communicating objectives, positively impacting employee morale, motivating team members, conducting performance appraisals, and appropriately addressing individual or group performance issues
•Ensure all safety and security rules are strictly observed and any accidents, incidents or injuries are promptly reported to management
•Attend the Annual C-TPAT Security Training
•Assign, train, and develop staff based on experience and departmental goals
•Develop goals and objectives, and measure outcomes to ensure goals are met
•Focus on continuous improvement, and consistently demonstrate good business judgment
•Develop a "Strong 2nd" for your area of responsibility
•Work effectively with all Pride departments to exceed internal and external expectations
•Pride retains the discretion to modify duties and/or assign other duties as necessary

•Advanced working knowledge of LTL tariffs, classifications and pricing
•Basic working knowledge of Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS)
•Advanced working knowledge of railroad routing and billing
•Basic working knowledge of Import/Export documentation and regulations
•Excellent web navigation skills
•Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Skills

•Intermediate working knowledge of Import/Export documentation and regulations preferred

Required Experience

•At least 5 years of experience managing transportation and/or logistics operations which includes vendor negotiations and railcar and truck sourcing
•At least 3 years of experience analyzing logistics processes and the financial impact of current and prospective carriers and modes

Preferred Experience

•At least 1 year of experience with leading at least 3 staff members preferred

Required Education

•Associate Degree in a Logistics, Business, or Operations Management related field, OR High School Diploma or GED, with at least 6 years of the required experience

Preferred Education

•Bachelor’s Degree in a Logistics, Business, or Operations Management related field preferred
